Luna Bezel Solitaire Ring

The bezel is the oldest way to hold a stone, and still the most protective. Rather than gripping the diamond with claws, the Luna wraps a single continuous rim of polished metal around its girdle — the thin outer edge where a cut diamond is most vulnerable. Nothing rises above the table, nothing projects out to the sides. What you get is a clean circle of metal, a clean circle of light, and very little else.

The 2 mm band is comfort fit, rounded on the inside so it sits easily against the finger through a full day. Because the rim carries the stone instead of sitting under it, the whole head stays low: the ring slips beneath a shirt cuff, pulls on gloves without catching, and survives the kind of knocks that loosen a claw. It is a quiet setting rather than a modest one — with no accent stones anywhere on the band, the centre diamond is doing all of the work.

Choosing your centre diamond

This setting is sold on its own so you can pair it with the centre stone you choose separately. A bezel is cut to the diameter of the stone it holds, so the rim is made to match the round brilliant you select rather than being a fixed size. Photography shows the setting with a round brilliant centre stone for scale; your centre diamond is priced and selected on its own.

Care

A bezel protects the stone better than prongs do, but it also gives dust somewhere to sit. Clean with warm water, a drop of mild dish soap and a soft brush, working around the outside of the rim and along the join where the bezel meets the band. Dry with a lint-free cloth. There are no accent prongs to work loose here, which is one of the reasons this setting suits an active hand — but still take the ring off for heavy lifting, and have the rim checked if it ever takes a hard knock.
