Aquamarine Tide Ring

Aquamarine is cut for clarity rather than depth of colour — the best material is almost water-clear with a wash of blue that reads strongest along the length of an oval. Cut it too shallow and the colour disappears entirely.

Tide uses an oval of good depth over a pavé band, so the white diamonds sit against pale blue and give it an edge to read against. In daylight the stone goes almost transparent; under warm light it holds the blue.
